How the
system works
A cloud-to-edge architecture: your PMS syncs to Google Cloud, which pushes updates every 60 seconds to Raspberry Pi units running Home Assistant on-property.
PMS triggers event
Check-in, checkout or key changes fire a webhook to the Livinis cloud API on Google App Engine.
Cloud processes & persists
The API updates Cloud SQL and writes per-property JSON files to a shared Google Drive folder.
Local sync via rclone
Each Raspberry Pi polls Drive every 60 seconds, keeping door codes and room states local and current.
Home Assistant acts
Node-RED automations read local files and control locks, thermostats and lighting — even offline.

How a stay works
with Livinis
From the moment a guest checks in to the moment they leave, every step is automated. No manual resets. No forgotten keys. No wasted energy.
PMS check-in triggers automatic keycard creation
The moment a guest checks in via your PMS, Livinis creates and activates keycards for their room, connected rooms and common areas. Cards are time-limited to the booking period. No front desk action required.
Smart pocket activates room on valid card only
The active key pocket reads the card UID and profile. Only a valid, associated card enables power, lighting and climate. A welcome lighting scene activates. Room status updates to "occupied" on the reception dashboard.
Climate, energy and housekeeping fully automated
Guest sets their preferred temperature — the system remembers it. If the window opens, HVAC pauses automatically. Housekeeping is blocked from entering while the guest card is in the pocket. DND enforced without a sign on the door.
All keycards deactivated, room reset to standby
Checkout via PMS (or optional drop-box) instantly deactivates all keycards for the booking. Temperature resets to the standard profile. Housekeeping is notified. The room is ready for the next guest within minutes.
The active
key pocket
Traditional key pockets activate power with any card — even an expired or invalid one. Livinis active pockets read the card UID and profile, enabling power only when the card is valid and associated with that room.
No validation. Expired, stolen or random cards activate the room. Energy wasted, security compromised.
